I've been going around barking all morning, because that's what you do on game day when you're a GEORGIA DAWG. The UGA football cheer is the first thing I learned in college. All freshman are taught how to do it on orientation day.

Here, it's easy... I'll teach it to you:


  • Swing an imaginary lasso over your head in a counter-clockwise motion. Simultaneously shout the word, "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...." and don't breathe in for as long as you can. Suspense is building for the kick-off — The kicker's GOOOOOING toward the ball.

  • Once he makes contact, shout "DAWGS!!" And please pronounce the "W". Put your fist in the air as you say it. Wait one Mississippi... er, Georgia, and command them Dawgs to "SIC 'EM!!"

  • Now pump your fist a minimum of five times like you're banging on an imaginary door. Bark "WOOF WOOF WOOF WOOF WOOF" in time with your fist pumps. Congratulations — The game is now officially underway!


Now anyone who knows a thingabout Georgia football will tell you it's blasphemous to associate theDAWGS with pink and call them cute.

Don't be confused — this looker pictured left is a Georgia DOG and bona fide Bulldog fan to boot. She's named after them, for crying out loud — Answers to Georgia and watches the games with her owner. But she's involved in a different kind of match-up than the gridiron. She's in a competition for dogs that are cute.
