Sixth Sense on Six Cents: How to Make a Wish

I can tell you about one of them, because it already came true...
I wished to find my perfect job, and yesterday there it was. A brand new posting from a company who wants someone to write marketing materials... about shoes. About shoes!
Like a method actor, I slipped on my strappy platform sandals with the precious jingly buckles while I applied. That's when it occurred to me: I didn't wish to GET the job, just to find it. Oh shoot, shooting star!
I'm pretty sure the Universe knew what I meant, but I'll still take a lesson to be more specific. I'm thinking of this now, because today is a very important day for wishes.
A special someone is SIX today!
He's my friend's sweet baby, growing up so fast. In the absence of getting to see him myself, I took six pennies down to Caesar's Palace on his behalf. I tossed them one by one in the fountain, silly, not the machines.
Each time, I made a wish, but I'm not telling what they were. I was careful to be very specific with requests around the following themes:
Health... Happiness... Liberty... Environmental Sustainability... Opportunity... and Hip-Hop Dancing Soccer Players Dressed as Stormtroopers.
I have a sixth sense that something from that six cents is going to come true.
Now, since a wish is kind of like a prayer, you probably don't need any instruction in this area. It's an individual thing, of course. Here's how I personally approach the subject.
How To Make A Wish
1. Be Specific
Talking to a Genie is no time for beating around the bush.
2. Be Generous to Others
You just might get the happiness you seek of those around you get what they need first.
3. Be Humble
Making a wish is kind of liberating, because it's letting go of control.
4. Be Open
You just never know what you'll get back.
5. Be Realistic
Seriously. All you can ever really do is wish for the best.
If you're in a wishful mood today, wish my friend's little sweetheart a happy sixth birthday. That's what I'm doing. I truly wish him the best.

Good article! Be humble is great advice. finally learning to let go and NOT be in control all the time. One can drive themselves nuts by controlling to much....

I don't know why it's so hard. I find that my own control tendencies involve anxiety or worry. I get some silly idea about the way things should, and hold it captive in my head. I do everything in my power to arrange reality around the idea. I might even distort reality to make it conform! Obviously that doesn't work. I'm so much happier when I wise up about my inability to control it, and release the idea into the wind. Thanks for your comment!

The newly 6 year old went to bed last night (on the bottom bunk) high on cake and bleary-eyed from hours in the pool with his friends. It took him less than a nanosecond to think of and make his wish when blowing out his candles. Thanks for covering him on the big stuff with your wishes! We;ll have to gather some pennies so we can add to the fountain when we're there!!!!

Oh-ho ho, I bet he wished for something good! Got my fingers crossed that it will come true...
The thing that's making me smile right this minute is the fact that he knows nothing of the big stuff to get in the way of his big dreams. Why would he wish for happiness? That's the only thing he's ever known. May that never change.
And speaking of change... I've got a purse full. We can hit every fountain in town! xoxo
